DRYER VENTS

Dryers and their vents are a major source of house fires.
Surprised? You shouldn't be!

Many of these fires originate because of problems with the venting systems. The dryer is vented with vinyl accordion ducting and trapped lint has slowed air circulation to the point of creating a fire hazard. The duct has become disconnected or crushed, and lint is collecting in the attic, inside walls, or behind the dryer. The exhaust vent for the duct is malfunctioning or even missing. The exhaust system is now occupied by nesting birds, leading to an accumulation of lint and the possibility of fire. No Matter how it occurs, any collection of lint is a fire hazard and should be dealt with immediately by a Professional Dryer Duct Cleaning Company.

Most dryer fires will start beneath the dryer when the motor overheats. This is caused by a build-up of lint in the duct that increases the drying time and blocks the flow of air - just like the cholestrol in your arteries can build up and block the flow of blood to your heart.

Naturally, any lint that has collected under the dryer will burn and the draft from the dryer will pull that fire up into the duct. Since the duct is coated or even blocked with lint, many times a house fire results. Thats why it's so important to periodically have your dryer venting system checked by a Professional Company that specializes in dryer vents.
